Security window film is a thick, clear layer bonded to the inside of your existing glass. It doesn't make glass unbreakable. What it does is hold the glass together when it's struck, so the pane stays in the frame instead of falling out or shattering into the room. Someone trying to get in has to keep hitting the same spot, which takes time and makes noise. Smash-and-grab break-ins depend on getting in fast, so that delay is the point.
Patio and sliding doors: large glass doors at the back of the house are a common way in.
Sidelights and glass near door locks: film makes it much harder to break the glass and reach in to unlock the door.
Basement and ground-floor windows: especially windows out of view from the street.
Storm protection: when hail or wind-blown debris breaks a window, the film helps keep the broken glass from scattering across the room.
Large display windows and glass entry doors are what smash-and-grab thieves look for. Security film keeps that glass bonded together after an impact, so it's much harder to clear an opening and grab what's inside. It also keeps broken glass contained, which protects staff and customers, and it stays clear, so your displays look the same as before. Security film can be paired with solar or decorative film when you also want less heat, less glare or more privacy.
Thicker film holds up to more force. We recommend a thickness based on the window and what you're protecting against. On doors and storefronts, an attachment system anchors the film to the window frame, so the glass can't be pushed out of the frame in one piece. We'll tell you on site which windows need it.
Clear security film is virtually invisible, so your windows look the same from inside and out. It also blocks up to 99% of the UV rays that fade floors, furniture and merchandise.
Security film is quoted on site, because the price depends on the film thickness and whether your windows need an attachment system. It costs far less than replacing windows with security glass.
